About
About MicroHom
MicroHom is an independent planning tool for small, affordable homes in California, with hemp-lime (hempcrete) as the preferred wall material. It is not a government website.
What it does
- Plan. Find a parcel from public county map services, sketch a small home, and estimate materials with the Block Builder and 3D walkthrough.
- Materials. Plain-language guides to hempcrete, framing, bamboo and solar, with the California code sections and published prices behind them.
- Funding and spending. Sourced figures for state and federal housing programs and county spending, with each source and the date it was checked.
- Permits. Summaries of the hemp-lime appendix, ADU law, factory-built housing and the energy code.
What it is not
MicroHom gives estimates, not engineering, legal or tax advice. It is not affiliated with the State of California or any public agency, does not award or hold public funds, and does not endorse the suppliers it lists.
Who runs it
MicroHom is run by Chris Mai. Questions and corrections go to [email protected].
